Vascular lesions: a rupture or malformation of blood vessels near the skin’s surface. Common types include broken capillaries, spider veins and port wine stains.

Vasodilators: drugs which cause the opening of blood vessels. The hair growth drug minoxidil is a vasodilator.

Vellus hair: small, fine, nearly invisible hair that covers most of the body.

Verucca: a medical term for a wart.

Virus: a microscopic organism often causing diseases. In hair removal, the chance of viral transfer can be nearly eliminated using universal precautions.

Vitiligo: milky unpigmented spots on the skin, usually occuring after adulthood, and more common in blacks. It’s what Michael Jackson claims to have.

Volt: a unit of electromotive force, one ampere of current against one ohm of resistance.
