NetOptix was previously named Galileo Electro-Optics Corporation (shortened in 1996 to Galileo Corporation). In August 1996, Galileo acquired Leisegang Medical, Inc., of Boca Raton, Florida. One year later, they acquited the original German offices of Leisegang. Leisegang's parent company Galileo was renamed NetOptix Corporation on September 30, 1999 and is now itself a subsidiary of Corning. Confusing, huh?
