Available devices: CoolTouch Varia long pulse Nd:YAG

Notes:

Founded in 1996 under the name Laser Aesthetics, CoolTouch manufactures a laser for wrinkle reduction and a long pulse Nd:YAG laser for hair removal and spider vein treatments. The device uses cryogen spray as a cooling agent for the skin. The procedure, which they call Thermal Quenching, gives a timed burst of spray to the skin immediately before and after the laser pulse. This allows for higher energy levels duing treatment and treatment of some darker skin colors. However, as with any laser, the darker your skin, the more important it is for you to find a practitioner who is highly experienced to avoid risk of injury.

A press release in the July 2001 Aesthetic Buyers Guide cites a report by David Goldberg in which 20 patients saw about two-thirds of treated hair gone at one month, and one-third gone at three months after a single treatment.
